Yes, you heard it right; these self-made women being the ISRO scientists have broken the so-called stereotypes, portraying their talents to the whole world. These talented Indian women remind everyone that any stream of study is absolutely is absolutely not reliant on gender-basis. These brainy women have set world record for amazing work behind the recent ISRO’s Mars mission, thus gaining all the praises and appreciations. This is known as Truly Women Empowerment.

1# Ritu Karidhari: Mother of two children, Ritu Karidhari, who has worked on most of the weekends, brainstormed with the ISRO engineers. She has the passion for science and space missions. When she was a student, she used to read science books and study the stars for hours every single day. She was fascinated about the mysteries of outer space, and she knew then what she wanted to be one day. Later in her life, Ritu Karidhari became Deputy Operations Director of Mars Orbiter Mission.

2# Moumita Dutta: Moumita read about the Chandrayaan mission when she was a student. While reading about Chandrayaan 1 (India’s first lunar probe) in Kolkata’s Anandabazar Patrika newspaper, she thought those people who get the chance to be an important part of such mission are so lucky. In 2015, Moumita herself was one among the top most ISRO scientists. She belongs to the part of team working for Mars Mission. She is working now as a Project Manager for the Mars Mission.

3# Nandini Harinath: Nandini’s first job was at ISRO and twenty years later there is absolutely no looking back for her. When she was a kid, Nandini got inspired from Star Trek series, and now she is the project manager, Mission Design, Deputy Operations Director, Mars Orbitor Mission ISRO. She is extremely happy and proud that the new Rs 2000 note is having the Mars Orbiter Mission.

4# Anuradha TK: Anuradha TK is a Geosat Programme Director, and also the leading woman officer at ISRO. The day Anuradha saw Neil Armstrong for the first time walking on the moon; she felt mesmerizing and challenging to turn into a space scientist. She has productively pursued her dreams to play a vital role at ISRO, being a true motivation for many women present there and other women who dream to be a part of ISRO someday.

5# N Valarmathi: Being the project director, the lady led the launch of India’s first developed radar imaging satellite, the RISAT-1. In 2015 she was the first person to have received the Abdul Kalam Award. In 1984 she had joined the ISRO and engaged in other missions like INSAT 2A, IRS IC, IRS ID, TES. She is even the second lady scientist of ISRO for heading an impressive project after T K Anuradha who was the project director of GSAT-12 mission way back in the year 2011.

6# Minal Sampath: Minal worked for 18 hours a day as a systems engineer for the Mars Orbital Mission. She conveyed they had a superb team and great understanding between them and this helped them to meet their deadlines on time. She along with her team refrained from picking any leave for the last two years.

7# Kriti Faujdar: She is a computer scientist who works at the Master Control Facility, monitoring satellites in their proper orbits with her team. She is also working on other different missions constantly. She expresses that ISRO is the best supportive working place for women.

8# Tessy Thomas: She is known as the missile woman of India who headed the Agni IV and Agni V mission. She is the first woman engineer heading India’s missile project. She is a project director and an engineer for Agni-IV in Defense Research and Development Organization. She is actually working for DRDO, instead of ISRO.
