It is always recommended to grow lots of trees. The cities should develop enough trees so as to cleanse the air and save people from suffering breathing or lung problems. The solution to this serious problem is found and it is a magnificent idea, but searching a wide space for massive forests is difficult. When you are residing in an over-populated city, space is unavailable to generate woodland because of big buildings and offices, malls and shopping centers. Therefore, China has approached with a brilliant solution. The popular architect Stefano Boeri, known for his plant-covered skyscrapers, has amazing designs in mind to craft a completely new green arrangement in China that is infected by dirty air.

Innovative Design of Vertical Forests

In place of forest plantation outwardly which would cover up huge spaces, they have planned to plant the trees upwards. A group of expert architects has proposed two incredible buildings known as the Nanjing Green Towers. China’s Vertical forests designed by project head Stefano Boeri are basically the gigantic office towers enveloped in green tanks, finely-shaped plants, and balconies. These are portrayed as the first vertical forests of Asia. The high building will stand at 107 and 199 m [354 and 656 feet] tall. On the outside of the buildings, around 600 tall trees, 500 medium-size trees, along with 2500 cascading plants and shrubs will be planted in order to produce a tower of dazzling greenery.

The creators of the tower describe that Vertical forest will absorb 25 tons of carbon dioxide per year, thus reproducing biodiversity, and also fabricates around 60 kg of oxygen each day. The 200-meter high taller tower will be hosting offices, a green architecture school, a museum, and also a private club on the rooftop. Whereas, the 108-meter high smaller tower will provide a Hyatt hotel along with with shops, a food market, a swimming pool, and restaurants on the rooftop.  Architects are expecting to wrap up the Vertical forest project in Nanjing and reveal their towers in the year 2018.

Stefano Boeri’s Excellency in Architecture

Expert architect Stefano Boeri visualizes the wonderful future of urban China where the hotels, offices, and homes are beautified in a lush inferno of green bushes and dark green plants from top to toe. The Italian architect who rose to fame for his tree-adorned Bosco Verticale [Vertical Forest] skyscraper complex in Milan, uncovered his plans for a same kind of project he wants to design in Nanjing city of Eastern China. Boeri’s first Vertical forest in Asia will be compiled of two neighboring towers covered with 23 species of distinct trees and 2,500+ cascading shrubs. The beautiful structures will include a 247-room luxury hotel, offices, a museum, and also a green architecture school.

Boeri conveyed, “We have remarkable plants to craft forest cities in a nation which has turned out to be tantamount with ecological deprivation and smoke. We’ve been told to design the complete city where you have 200 buildings of diverse sizes, decorated with plants and trees on the fascias. By this year-end, the construction work will start off and end by 2018 or so.”

It was way back in 1979 when Stephen Boeri, 60, visited China for the first time. He opened his office five years ago in Shanghai where he guides a research program at Tongji University. Boeri told that Chinese officials could finally comprehend that they need to have a new and better-sustaining model of perfect urban planning which consists of 100,000 people’s settlement and grand megalopolises which were fully built of green architecture.”

The first vertical forest was constructed by Boeri in Milan city in 2014 where its towers have crafted a wonderful vertical environment that can be used even by birds and insects. They are hoping to replicate such similar design for Nanjing buildings. Stephen Boeri Studios are expecting to bring out other various vertical forests in China’s Shanghai, Shijiazhuang, and Liuzhou. Distinct vertical forests are also designed for Italy and Switzerland.

Boeri’s idea of erecting an outstanding building covered with green shrubs is highly impressive which modifies the color with every season. All the best to team Boeri for their notable efforts for Vertical forest! 🙂
