After the grand IPL 8 wrapped up last month-end, it’s time for Indian cricket team to make a tour to Bangladesh this month for one-off Test match and three ODIs. Last Monday this news was pronounced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

With passing years Bangladesh has built a strong team and their batting line has improved tremendously. They have exhibited remarkable performances with whichever team they have played against, with their full dominance. So the Indian team cannot take the Bangladeshis lightly. They have to execute their best in order to beat the Bangladesh team. As India is currently ranked 7th position in ICC test ranking and second in ODIs, they have to surely progress themselves.

After Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh’s splendid performance in IPL 8 with Mumbai Indians, BCCI has selected him for only Test match against Bangladesh [10-14 June]. Last Wednesday the selection committee in Mumbai has decided to preserve the majority squad which did touring to Australia in 2014 and 2015.

Though in the last season of Ranji trophy, Harbhajan played only 3 first class matches gaining 6 wickets along with 3 best for 51, he has also shown a magnificent performance for Mumbai Indians (IPL8), taking 16 wickets in 14 matches.

According to Sandeep Patil, India’s chairman of selectors, “Considering that the batting order of Bangladesh has 6 left-handers, we had a talk with Indian captain and other team members, and found it essential to pick a second off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. Finally the selection committee and captain felt that it was the right decision to take for this specific tour.”
