Diamond jewellery and accessories craftsmen at a well-known jewellery showroom located in Athwalines, Surat, are beautifying a pair of shoes with 12,000 dazzling diamonds. As said by Dilip Shah, the showroom owner, “Each shoe will own 6,000 diamonds and the pair will be ready for release in two months.” He is implementing this order for a Dubai-based client. The excited Shah conveyed, “It is going to be the first decorated pair of shoes we are creating for our client.”

Diamond-studded gadgets are being lapped up all over the world. But this is actually the first time in Surat that beautiful shoes are being adorned with appealing gems for clients and customers. Besides, the diamond-studded accessories in India are in tremendous demand that is expanding at a faster pace, and Surat is cashing in. The orders for diamond-studded fashion accessories are mounting high, including buckles, leather belts, shoes, pen-drives, mobile phones, coffee-mug, and crockery too. The diamond designs of these products look mind-blowing.

Praveen Nanavati, the owner of a jewellery showroom in Mahidharpura, Surat, said, “A coffee mug worth Rs 150 can price up to Rs 15,000 when it is beautified.”

According to Chandrakant Sanghavi, regional chairman, Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, “People in the West love diamond-coated accessories. The popularity is catching on also in India greatly. It is the right time for the diamantaires to explore local opportunities.”
