The city of diamonds “Surat” sparkled like gems across every corner with Prime Minister Narendra Modiji appearing and making his presence felt grandly. Modiji received an awe-inspiring welcome when he visited Surat on his two-day tour on Sunday evening, 7 pm onwards. He was received by Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, deputy chief minister Nitin Patel and former chief minister Anandiben Patel at Surat airport. People were eagerly waiting from the airport till Circuit House in huge gatherings. The moment he landed at the airport, people cheered Modi Namo in great enthusiasm. Narendra Modi drove in an open car from airport through 11 km route to the Circuit House, waving hands to his fans and supporters. An ecstatic crowd in thousands lined up on both the sides of the road and shouted loudly “Modi, Modi”. The caravan of PM was led by 81-member women’s pink biker group and completely guarded by SPG commandos.

Exceptional Events held in the City

Surat was glittering all around for the big event that was decorated with LED lights and huge posters of Prime Minister. VR Mall of Surat was shining with 3D Mapping show welcoming the Honorable PM Narendra Modi on Sunday. The whole city was shimmering brightly, having a vibrateous atmosphere of cheers and excitement. Modiji waved everyone and smiled to the great audience on the roads beginning from airport entrance, V junction, VR Mall to Iscon Mall to Kargil Chowk, SVNIT, Sargam Center to Circuit House.

Around 57 disabled children were present in the crowd at Kargil Chowk to watch Modiji. Youngsters and children including more than 10,000 people took lot of selfies with 22-foot Modi idol at Rahul Raj Mall, on Gaurav Path road. Drawing competition was held on Saturday evening from Sargam Center point to Parle Point where children and elders drew beautiful artistic paintings and exhibited on the service road for Modiji and viewers to have a glimpse. Every circle from V junction till Circuit House was wonderfully decorated in light and flowers. Sand artist Sudarshan too contributed with a magnificent painting at Sargam Center.

The Prime Minister completed the long road show in more than two hours till he reached the Circuit House. Every single person in the crowd in Surat was fascinated to see the Prime Minister of our country pass in front of their eyes.

  • Sunday 16th: Crossed Gaurav Path, Piplod at 8.40 pm.
  • Arrived at Circuit House at 9.45 pm.
  • A meeting with 70-odd BJP leaders at Circuit House.

  • Monday 17th: Left Circuit House to move to Katargam via road.
  • PM broke the security protocol to meet a 4-year old girl Nancy Gondaliya on his way to Kiran Multispeciality Hospital at Katargam, Surat.
  • Inaugurated the new Kiran Hospital.
  • Public meeting at Old Community Ground
  • Inaugurated Hare Krishna export diamond unit at Icchapore at 10.35 am. Modiji conveyed, “We’re No. 1 in the world in diamond polishing. Now I want to see India should become jewellery designing hub.”

  • From Surat airport, left for Vyara helipad in Tapi district by MI-8/17 helicopter.
  • Inaugurated SUMUL’s plant in Tapi district at 12 pm. Sumul’s cattle feed, ice-cream plants too opened.
  • PM even laid stone for Rs 958 Cr Irrigation Scheme in Tapi District!
  • From Vapi, moved to Silvassa for a public meeting and inauguration of government projects.
  • PM gave away land certificates to over 2,500 adivasis under the Forest Rights Act on Monday in the neighboring Union Territory of Dadar and Nagar Haveli [DNH].

  • Then left for Botad to speak at a program held there.
  • Also inaugurated Phase-I of the Link-II pipeline canal of the ambitious [SAUNI] Yogna in Botad in the evening. Link-II will release water from Narmada into 9 dams.

Overall, the 2-day trip was a magnificent visit by PM of India Shri Narendra Modi as he assured the farmers and the other people witnessing him that “We did not have the privilege to die for the nation’s freedom. But we have the opportunity to live for the nation & serve our people.” Hats off to Modiji for boosting the people of Surat and nearby places to live their dreams as they will soon be offering new technologies for the benefit of the state of Gujarat that will help in greater developments in irrigation, healthcare services, industrial belts, dams and many more establishments!
