IPL Twenty20 2016 Season 9 Begins from 9th April

All the seasons of Indian Premier League till last year have always been exciting to watch, and this year too will be thrilling Twenty20 matches, and the more the days will be nearer to the semi-finals, the matches will gradually turn into high-voltage with all the cricketers in full energetic form. Season 9 of IPL Twenty 20 is scheduled to be played from Saturday, 9^th April to Sunday 29^th May in 10 cities across the country.

Eight teams will play in the Vivo IPL T20 Tournament 2016 including: Mumbai Indians, Rising Pune Supergiants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab, Gujarat Lions, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Total of 60 matches will be played in this IPL season’s T20 competition, involving 56 group stage matches and four play-off matches.

IPL 9 will add two new franchises, Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujarat Lions based in Pune and Rajkot cities. Both these teams are replacing Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals that have been suspended for 2 years up till 2017. In the year 2007, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had established IPL Twenty20 cricket league, and this has been the ninth successful season. 2016 will be the first IPL season to make use of LED stumps.

According to the 2016 IPL schedule, the opening match encounter will be played between 2 times IPL (2013 & 2015) champions Mumbai Indians and one of new participating team, Rising Pune Supergiants at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai sharp from 8.00 PM IST timing on 9^th April.

Ten venues have been chosen to host the cricket tournament of IPL 9.
