The Ganesh Chaturthi festival is cheerfully observed. Everyone extends a warm welcome to Ganpati Ji in their residences and communities. The most anticipated holiday of the year, Ganesh Chaturthi, finally sees Ganesh Ji make his triumphant entrance in splendor and enthusiasm.
The fourth day of the Hindu lunar-solar month of Bhadrapada marked the beginning of Ganesh puja. Few locations observe Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations for two days, five days, or an extended ten days. This year, Ganesh Ji will be honored for eleven days, from August 31 through September 10, throughout the entirety of Gujarat and Maharashtra.
To celebrate the birthday of Lord Ganesha, who has an elephant head, this festival is celebrated. Ganesh Ji, the son of the goddess Parvati and the god Shiva, is renowned for having 108 different names. The god of luck, fortune, and prosperity is known as Lord Ganesha. Gujarat, Maharastra, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Pondicherry all celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi.
Ganesh Chaturthi honored through four important rituals
- Pranapratishhtha: the process of permeating the deity into an idol.
- Shhodashopachara: 16 forms of paying tribute to Ganesha.
- Uttarpuja: Puja performed after the Ganesh idol could be moved after its infusion.
- Ganpati Visarjan: immersion of Lord Ganesh in the river
Ganesh Chaturthi decorations
Everywhere in the country, people celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with great enthusiasm. To welcome Ganpatiji, people construct pandals, clean and adorn their homes, and dress in vibrant clothing and lighting. Visitors to the pandals come to pray to Bappa. Due to the fact that they do puja at every pandal throughout these 11 days, pandits are in high demand. In addition to being showered with flowers, Bappa is given laddoos, modaks, and numerous other pakwans. These are handed to the worshippers after the puja.
A very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi to everyone! May Lord Ganesha’s divine blessings grant you all eternal happiness, safeguard you from harm, and grant your wishes now and always! Ganpati Bappa Maurya! 🙂
