The Indian cricket team tours England in August and September 2021 for playing five Test Matches. Before this Test series, the Indian team will be playing warm-up matches from July 20 to July 22 against a team set by England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This is a practice game requested by BCCI that was agreed upon by English board. The 5-Test matches will begin from August 4 and continue till September 14. This Indian team will be led by Captain Viral Kohli, along with his teammates.

“Well, that doesn’t depend on us. We wanted first-class games, which I believe have not been given to us. I don’t know what the reasons for that are. But yeah, other than that I think our preparation time will be ample for us to be ready for the first Test,” said Viral Kohli.

Before their game against England, India played New Zealand in the 2021 ICC World Test Championship Final at the Rose Bowl in Southampton in June 2021. The Test Series against England will be the first match of the 2021–2023 ICC World Test Championship. The request from BCCI in May 2021 was made to help adjust the schedule of the tour to adjust the remaining matches of the 2021 Indian Premier League.
