The Paris Paralympics begins on a great note with a magnificent opening ceremony, keeping the city buzzing after the successful Olympics. From August 28 to September 8, the Paris 2024 Paralympics Games spans 12 exciting days, featuring 4,400 of the world’s top Paralympic athletes. This marks the 17th edition of the Summer Paralympics, held in Paris, France.
Paralympic Athletes Take Center Stage in Iconic Venues
A fresh wave of Paralympians joins experienced athletes, competing in many of the same iconic venues that hosted the Olympic events. Out of the 35 Olympic sites, 18 will be repurposed for the Paralympics, including the Grand Palais, which was highly praised for its fencing and taekwondo events under its stunning roof.
La Defense Arena returns as the venue for 141 gold-medal events in para-swimming, while the Stade de France will once again host track and field competitions. The Games will begin with an opening ceremony at Place de la Concorde, the heart of Paris, where skateboarding and other urban sports were featured during the Olympics.

India Fields Largest-Ever Paralympic Contingent for Paris 2024
India is sending its biggest-ever team of 84 athletes to the 2024 Paralympic Games, aiming to build on the momentum from their record-breaking performance at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. The contingent includes 32 women, competing across 12 sports, with para-cycling, para-rowing, and blind judo making their debut. To surpass their previous tally of 19 medals, including five golds, the Indian team is determined to make a significant impact on the global stage once again. Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Sumit Antil and Asian Para Games silver medallist Bhagyashri Jadhav are India’s Flag Bearers at the Paralympics Opening Ceremony.
