KKR wins the Tata IPL Season 17
In a one-sided final, Sunrisers Hyderabad crumbled to their lowest-ever total in an IPL Final, setting Kolkata Knight Riders up for their third championship victory. Kolkata effortlessly chased down a modest target of 114, securing an eight-wicket win, led by Venkatesh Iyer’s half-century at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Opting to field first after winning the toss, SRH’s decision backfired as Mitchell Starc struck early, removing Abhishek Sharma. Starc continued his dominance with another wicket, while Andre Russell shone brightest among the KKR bowlers, claiming three wickets.

IPL 2024 Format
- Group Division: Teams are split into two groups, labeled as Group A and Group B, each consisting of five teams.
- Fixture Format: Each team plays two matches against all teams from the other group and one match against each team in its own group, totaling seven home and seven away games per team.
- Playoff Qualification: Following the group stage, the top four teams with the highest aggregate points advance to the playoffs.
- Playoff Matches: Playoffs feature “Qualifier 1” between the top two teams, followed by an “Eliminator” between the remaining two. The winner of “Qualifier 1” proceeds to the final, while the loser gets a second chance in “Qualifier 2” against the winner of the Eliminator.
- Final Match: The winner of Qualifier 2 proceeds to the final match, where the IPL champion is determined.
