It is a proud feeling when any of the cities from your state are stated as the cleanest railways stations of the country. Well, Gujarat acquires five cleanest railway stations in India, whereas the dirtiest ones are from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. A passenger feedback survey was carried out successfully by railway ministry based on the cleanliness on the stations, and much to the surprise Gujarat wins the cleanest railways station category, whereas Bihar and UP’s stations hold the dirtiest tags. The hugest concerns for travelers were the deficient of sanitation.
Approximately 1,30,002 passengers took part in this survey which was accomplished at 408 main railways stations of the country. Among the forty distinct cleanliness factors, passengers were dissatisfied in marking the horrible stink at the stations as the major worries, along with unhygienic problem, less availability of dustbins, and tainted platforms. Passengers were also concerned about dirty flooring surfaces of railway platforms and extreme filth on the platforms.
The ten cleanest stations were picked of our country and rank-wise they are Beas, Gandhidham, Vasco Da Gama, Jamnagar, Kumbakonam, Surat, Nasik Road, Rajkot, Salem, and Ankleshwar. Gujarat has grabbed five of its key stations on the basis of cleanliness, comprising of Gandhidham, Jamnagar, Surat, Rajkot, and Ankleshwar who are added to top 10. Gujarat people are super-happy that their city stations have achieved top spots, and they gave a tough competition to the other states’ cities.
Besides passengers, the vendors, porters, and railways officials were asked to lend their feedbacks on this matter. Almost 400 passengers were interviewed for every A1 group [75 stations], and 300 were interviewed for every A group [332 stations]. Surveyors conducted 10 interviews for each station. When the survey results were declared, the railway minister further sent instructions to the zonal headquarters so that they can take appropriate actions to improve their stations. They even suggested strengthening and supervising railway station platform’s cleanliness via e-platform. The railway ministry has even decided to continue this survey process every year to measure the improvement standards in the stations across the country with a better strategy.
