The holy month of Ramadan is the month of fasting for the Islamic people across the world. They do not eat and drink during the daytime, which is their month of fasting (Roza). The month-long festival of breaking the fast happens as soon as the new moon is visible at the end of the fasting month. All the Muslims fast, pray, worship, and feast at night. This year the fasting month will last for twenty-nine days and will be rejoicing all over the world by approximately 1.6 billion Muslims. Ramzan is a huge festival for every Muslim member. Whereas girls shop for their beautiful designer dresses along with scarfs. Their shopping includes salwar-kameez, kurtis, jilbab, stylish hijabs, abayas, and kaftans.

  • Shop for Jewelry: Girls and women also love shopping for stunning jewelry. In groups, they visit jewelry shops to buy accessories like gold, silver or diamond necklaces, dangling earrings, bangle bracelets, engraved finger rings, and plated bangles.

  • Attars in demand: Ramzan favorites are attars or ittars. Men and women love adding attars on their garments. Attars are natural fragrance extracts that are greatly available in the market. One can find various attars at makeshift shops. For a person, one vial of attar is generally enough as it can last till the Eid-al-fitr. Attars are sold under several brand names and they also differ from each other in fragrances. The popular choices are sandalwood, saffron, henna extracts, gulab, and champa.

  • Delicious Food Feast: Certain market areas in different cities sell Ramzan delicacies that are not only relished by those people who fast for a month, but others too love having these tasty foods that are specially made for this occasion. A huge rush can be seen from 8 pm onwards for varieties of lacchha, khajura, sewai, chicken and mutton delicacies, moghlai parathas, jalebis, faludas and other dry fruits. Near the masjid areas, these food stalls are in great demand throughout the night.

    The price depends on the variety of yummy foods available during this time. Also, the prices of packed dry fruits depend mainly on the size of the containers. In many houses, wives prepare sevai, lacchha, chicken and mutton biryanis and other related dishes at their homes in the evening, after 6 pm. The full family sits together and relishes these food items. Sevai is eaten as a dessert at dinner.

  • Styling with Mehndi designs on girls’ hands: Young girls and women love painting their palms with Mehndi or henna designs, or traditional temporary tattoos. Well, the night before Eid is known as Chaand Raat in India that signifies night of the moon. People are seen hoping to the bazaars and shopping malls to engage in last-minute Eid shopping for themselves.
